MOTSCHWILLER MAPLE FARMS
Motschwiller Trails
What You Need to Know
The Motschwiller trail network was started in 2008 from the overgrown remains of logging trails and VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers) network trails. Over the last 15 years, the Motschwiller family has maintained and expanded these trails for the benefit of ourselves and our invited guests. The trails are rustic and can be dangerous. We encourage you to use them at your own risk.
Rules
Please help keep the trails in good shape by carrying out any trash and avoiding bringing wheeled vehicles on the trails. Heavy vehicles cause damage to the grass and we limit our vehicle usage to repair work.
Things to Do on Motschwiller Trails
Mets Shea Stadium Seats - On Carrie's Cut-Through, some old seats from the now-demolished Shea Stadium provide a comfortable spot to relax.
Ski Lift Swing - At the bottom of the backyard hill, you'll find a swing made from a retired ski lift chair from the Mount Snow Summit Triple, now replaced by the much-faster Bluebird Express lift.
Snacking on the Trails - We have some wild and cultivated plants that you may help yourself to. We request that you use restraint so we have enough for our annual jams and cider.
-
Summer Berries - Black berries grow on the sides of the trails. By traveling uphill, you will eventually reach the family yard. Feel free to have a snack of blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, found by the rocky outcrop on the left side of the yard looking uphill.
-
Late Summer Chanterelle Mushrooms - There are multiple patches of chanterelle mushrooms found throughout the property in the late summer and early fall. Some of the easiest spots are just downhill of the Inn at Quail Run.
-
Fall Apples - There are two apple trees off of Ken's Kourse, at the bottom of the yard. One is a Honeycrisp apple tree and is a family favorite.
